Welcome to
Olivia Ferreira Explains

Hi! I'm Olivia Ferreira, a biologist passionate about public health and innovation. With over 10 years of experience in epidemiology, surveillance, and prevention of infectious diseases, I've dedicated my career to transforming data into actions that save lives and promote health equity.

My journey began with a solid background: I have a Master’s degree in Health Surveillance, a specialization in Public Health, and am a graduate of EpiSUS Avançado, a program that prepared me to work in complex and challenging scenarios. Over the years, I have been honored to be recognized nationally for my work, including 3rd place in the Adolfo Lutz & Vital Brazil Award and an Honorable Mention in the Mario Covas Award , two achievements that reinforce my commitment to excellence and innovation.

My Performance Today

I currently work as a healthcare interoperability consultant and information systems researcher , focused on improving data management in public health. One of the projects I am most proud of is the implementation of the VaciVida system , which ensured the registration and monitoring of COVID-19 vaccinations in the state of São Paulo. It was a challenging job, but seeing the positive impact on people's lives made every effort worthwhile.

I have also had the privilege of sharing my knowledge at international events such as the 10th TEPHINET Global Scientific Conference (USA, 2019), the First Regional Meeting on Safe Vaccination in the Americas (Colombia, 2023) and the 33rd International RESER Conference (Switzerland, 2023), where I was able to contribute to global discussions on digital health and innovation.

Publications and Contributions

I believe that knowledge is only truly valuable when shared. That is why I participated in the production of technical materials for the Ministry of Health, such as the Estimate of mortality due to exposure to fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and the Epidemiological Surveillance Guide for COVID-19 . In addition, I co-authored the chapter " Warriors of a pandemic: elderly people hospitalized for COVID-19 in Brazil ", published in the book Saúde Brasil 2020/2021 .

Why Do I Write This Blog?

This blog was born from my desire to share insights, experiences and learnings about public health, epidemiology and health innovation. Here, you will find content ranging from technical analysis to reflections on the challenges and opportunities in the health field. My goal is to inspire public health professionals, students and enthusiasts to think critically and act in transformative ways.

Welcome! I hope this space will be a source of inspiration and knowledge for you. Let's build a healthier and more equitable future together.
